Fluoroquinolones are bactericidal drugs that actively killi bacteria. Cipro® falls into this category. Cipro® is a Broad-Spectrum Antibiotic, which means that it is designed to combat a wide-range of disease-causing bacteria, rather than just one. In the case of Cipro® specifically, this can include septicemia, anthrax, pneumonia, bronchitis, and urinary tract infections.
HOW DOES CIPRO® WORK?
Cipro® can be taken as a liquid or in pill-form. As with other antibiotics, Cipro® is most effective when there is a constant amount contained within both the blood and the urine. Therefore, it is recommended that the patient should follow his or her doctor’s instructions and complete the course of prescribed medication.
ARE THERE ANY POSSIBLE HEALTH RELATED RISKS?
There are a number of very serious side effects that have been attributed to Cipro®, including death, kidney failure, cardiac-arrest, thrombosis, and embolism. In addition, in 2005 the FDA acknowledged that Cipro® had led to the development of significant, and wholly irreversible, neurological conditions in some patients.
WHAT ARE THE SPECIFIC POTENTIAL HEALTH RELATED RISKS?
If you have experienced any of these side effects, or you have a loved one who has had a serious, adverse reaction to Cipro®, or who has died from taking the drug, you may have a claim for legal compensation.
